I gained 50 lbs after divorce. My stomach is so big and out of shape people ask me if I'm pregnant at least once a week! How can I get those muscles back to pull my stomach in and how can I lose that stubborn belly fat?

Cut back on your calories and fat intake to reduce the belly.
You may want to try a workout plan from here.

Exercise will burn fat equally all over.Depending how much fat you have to lose, it will first show on your face, then clothing will start to get big. The belly is usually the last place to go down. Can't just burn in the belly.
Try a program from here and you will see results.

I suggest focusing on cardio, cardio cardio. you should always do it for at least 30 minutes before you do any toning activities. Try and keep your heart rate at a safe level like from 130-150. thats the optimum rate to burn fat.
My doctor told me that if you could work out for just one hour (do what you can) for 5 times a week for 6 weeks, you'll start burning fat in your sleep! sounds like a plan. just remember to have realistic expectations, start slowly cus every little bit counts. it may not seem like it but its better to lose the weight slowly and keep it off than lose it quickly and gain it all back a couple times over.
