Cottage cheese. Is there anything you can't do with this stuff?

The first recipe I tried was the body builder pancake which turned out very good. I then added some to my whey shakes making them creamier and tastier (kind of like a frozen yogurt drink). I used it in my tuna (instead of mayo) and found that if I heated it up it came out like a tuna melt. Just yesterday I mixed some in with my eggs and made a really great cottage cheese omelet.

This stuff is a miracle food. High in protien, cheap and it can be used in so many ways. Does anyone else have suggestions or recipes using the wonder cheese?

COTTAGE IS A VERY GOOD SUPPLEMENT: HIGH PROTEIN LOW CARB LOW FAT.

It is most of all caseine (slow realeasing protein) so cottage cheese is good before bed.

WHAT I DO is

1 cup cottage cheese + 1 glass milk + 2 tbsp peanut butter
+ fruit + honey

3 bread slices with cottage cheese and jellow in morning
cottage cheese sandwish + ketchup
cheese cake (look for recipe in stickies)

you can do everything...

Peanut pudding thingie:
200G cottage cheese
1/4cup skim milk
2tsp splenda
3tsp natty PB
Blend it all together and whack that baby in the freezer for around 2-3 hours.
Fan freakin tastic stuff, I used to hate CC but now I look forward to it every night.

Another alternative if you dont want all the PB fat is to throw in a tsp of vannila essence, in place of the PB, kinda tastes a little like cheese cake but I still prefer PB.

With Oatmeal
Do-up your oatmeal as usual, and add ½ cup of cottage cheese at the end. If you know how to make a tasty bowl of oatmeal regularly, this addition will make it even better.

Eastern Mediterranean Style
Spread some cottage cheese in a bowl, add chopped cucumbers and tomatoes around the edge, then drizzle olive oil over everything. Top with a can of tuna and enjoy

Tortilla picante loca del pollo
This one is more of a main dish, so roll-up your sleeves, throw on your chef’s hat, and step up to the kitchen. Slice one grilled chicken breast in strips, then mix the following in a bowl: ½ cup cottage cheese, ½ cup salsa, 1 chopped roma tomato, 2 slices of onion (chopped), and a dash of salt, pepper, and ground cumin. Lay out 2 whole wheat tortillas, and layer them first with the chicken, then the mixture. Wrap them up, and put them in the oven for 5-10 minutes at 400-degrees, or nuke them in a pinch.

Dessert Fudge Shake
Throw these in a blender: ½ cup cottage cheese, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, a dash of spenda, 1 cup of ice, ½ cup water. Blend for 30 seconds, open the lid, throw in 1 oz. walnuts, and chop for a few seconds.

EFA Shake
Put these in an electric blender: one scoop chocolate protein powder, 2 tablespoons whole flax seeds, ½ cup cottage cheese, 1 cup ice, couple of dashes Spenda. Blend on high for about a minute, until all of the flax seeds have been ground.

Fruit Shake
Take frozen berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, or a mixture thereof), and mix them in an electric blender with 1 scoop vanilla or strawberry protein powder, 1 cup ice, ½ cup cottage cheese, some Splenda, and ½ cup of nonfat milk (or vanilla soymilk if you’re feeling kinky).

Cheesecake Shake
Go buy some lowfat Jell-O cheesecake mix, and add one tablespoon to this mix: 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, ¾ cup of cottage cheese, 1 cup ice cubes, a dash of Splenda, and just enough water to mix it in a blender. To make this really special, add a couple of drops of vanilla extract and a graham cracker. Blend on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Protein pancakes
I have seen so many different recipes for protein pancakes, don't know which one to use. Lately I have been mixing 1/2 cup oats, 1/4 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 scoop vanilla whey, 3 egg whites, 1/2 vanilla extract for batter. Then I usually add 2 Tbsp of Natty PB and about 1/2 cup of carb/sugar free syrup. Anyone else have any good recipes for protein pancakes?

Wow, thanks for the recipes. Some of those recipes look really good, especially the peanut butter pudding.

Thanks a bunch!

I get a packet of Ranch dressing mix (the powdered kind from Hidden Valley) and instead of putting mayo in it I add cottage cheese. I then put it in the blender and it turns out really good! It is sorta thin and liquidy but I guess add more cottage cheese if it's too much for you.

Today i had an emergency meal (my snack recipe didn't cook or cool fast enough...):

1 1/4 c FF cottage cheese mixed with around 3/4c pico de gallo. This made a snack with low carbs and about 32.5g protein, lowfat.

It was good, but the amount it made was kind of a big commitment to finish.

You have to like spinach to eat this (or maybe hungeris the best seasoning...)

Cottage cheese spinach bake (adapted from supercut cookbook)

1 1/4 c FF cottage cheese
10 oz package frozen spinach
2 slices onion, chopped(about 2 TBSP)
2 tsp parmesan cheese
minced garlic to taste
1/8 tsp rosemary
1/4 tsp oregano

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cook spinach, garlic and onion in a small pan with a little water until the spinach is thawed and the onion is soft. Squeeze out water, or drain in a seive, then spread in a layer in the bottom of a small baking dish (a personal size gratin or a small square dish, I sprayed mine with cooking spray so it wouldn't stick).
Mix cottage cheese with rosemary and oregano, then spread over the spinach. Sprinkle with parmesan.

Bake until cheese is golden and bubbly - tryt 30 minutes. the recipe says 15, but that didn't cut it and i ran out of time, so i stuck it in the fridge yesterday, then re-baked it today for about 45 minutes. It is pretty tasty.

I recently seen this recipe in an OXYGEN magazine and tried it.. sounds gross but is actually VERY good.

1 can low sodium tuna (rinse and drain)
1 sm container of sm curd, low-fat cottage cheese
1 stalk diced celery
CURRY and RED cayenne for taste

Mix well together and take along for high-protein snack anytime! (keep cool of course)!

LOVE IT!

Here is what I tried yesterday, and all I can say is WOW!

1 cup of cottage cheese
1 tea spoon of honey
1 dose of protein
1 banana
1 glass of milk

Stash it all in the mixer, I'm eating a perfect protein'ed yogurt while my girlfriend keeps trying to loose weight with her Activia "100% Natural" Yogurt, hehe.

anyways give it a try.. it's definitly worth it

Cottage cheese and yogurt....especially blueberry. Serve nice and chilled and it is a bit like ice cream.
