Hi,
I'm a 36 year old single mother with 2 jobs that is over weight by about 60-70 lbs.
Last summer I started running. (Something I hated, before due to a 4 yr stint in the US Army) I really enjoyed running on my own although it was hard work. I live in a REEAALLY rural area so I ran in the evening after work on our gravel roads. I eventually worked myself up to a distance of 5K. A lot of sweat, rocks in shoes, a run in with a young Grizzly,:surprised: trying to hold a conversation with my 7 yr old son while he rode his bike with me, etc, etc. I was a little bear shy, but nothing stopped my runs and I dropped 25-30 pounds. YEAY!!!!! Then Winter set in and daylight was gone by 4pm, and I wasn't able to keep running.( Nope, no street lights). Consequently I have gained all the weight back:(
So anyway Winter is finally over, except for the odd snow flurries still:angry: I am ready to start running again, but am dreading the struggles. I know the reward is weight loss, and I felt so good last summer, I guess that I fear gaining the weight back when winter rears its ugly head again. I know I will lose more weight this summer because I am strating to run way earlier than I did last summer.
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas that can help me out of this rut?
Any thoughts or ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Teri:)

Having your own tread mill or a membership to a gym will help. Keep your head up and stick with it good luck- Mike

Have you thought about trying something else in the winter.

The day I decided to "try something else" at the gym was the day I really got consistant with going. I always used the bikes, treadmills etc and never ever ever thought I'd like an aerobics class. But I thought I'd give it a shot and that has made all the difference for me.

Find something fun and exciting to do in the winter. Play basketball. Join a gym. Take a few classes. Cross country ski. You've got all summer of running to decide what you can have fun with next winter. Good luck.
