Why dont you just weigh the bar? Sometimes it just depends on the ends and what you use for clamps. Lots of different equipment out there now.

Yeah i was doing incline bench presses at home for a long time. Walked into my schoool gym, nobody was in there, attempted to do the same weight on the olympic bar, and did 1 rep, nearly got caught. whew heh. Nobody was around either.

I went and bought a nice olympic bench complete with weights. Its great. I will never use that skimpy 1" crap again.

OH what gets me , is when people use those clips at the end of the bar, and dont have a spotter. How fucking stupid can u be?? If you are benching and you have nobody around, u cant even tilt that weight off. You are screwed.

One time a guy was doin that, benchin 315, his friend he was workin out with was talkin to someone with his back to the guy. I was standin there watchin the whole thing. The guy benched it 3 times, tryin to go for 4. He got it half way, couldnt get it. I still am watchin, waitin for him to learn his lesson. Now its just above his throat. Hes tryin to yell at his friend but cant muster the voice to get his friend's attention (loud radio on too at the gym).

SO now i jumped in and got that off him. He was like, OH THANK U THANK U. LOL. Im like your welcome, idiot! Hope u learned your lesson. pffft

Gym owners don't usually like weights falling on the floor though.

Most gyms that i have been to, they have that rubber matting on the floor. And who cares man, its your throat or the floor. You choose. You know what i mean?

good stories.i remember one thing happened to some french guy in the gym.he was 35 or 40 y.o. couldnt press big weights.he had some problems with his brain, means, when he lifts big weight he gets some pressure in brain.once i told him"u know,u dont have to lift big weight to get stronger.u can get muscles ussing light weight and do more reps."he said,"ok,ok,thank u"
the fun thing was that he worked out his chest every day.so i met him following day.i spotted him once, and gone to do my excersise.i forgot about him about for 2 minnutes,i was relaxing on the bench and all of a sudden i heard "EXCUSE ME" with this little worried, fast french accent.that guy had barbell across his throat.i helped him.
what i liked from this was his confused worried voice that didnt want to attract big attention.he he he

I have recently discovered something unusual...I always thought all standard olympic bars were 45 lbs. , but lo and behold, we have 2 in our gym now that are 50 lbs.!! The others are the standard 45.

No some for whatever reason weigh different. My gym has on that weighs 35lbs. I guess it is for women o guys just starting out? I dunno I just go for the bar that looks like it has gotten the most use. I am assured then that the guys that lift all the time use it.
