Movement Execution:

Explanation: As you will notice from the diagrams above, this exercise requires the use of a cable machine. At the end of the cable, you must attach a rope handele of some kind. Be sure that the pulley is attached overhead. Kneel down infront of the pulley. Grab hold of the rope and place your hands above the top of your head. Next, arching at your trunk, pull the rope down contracting the abdominals as you do so. Bring your elbows towards your kness, but you don't have to necessarily touch them. Be sure to keep your hands holding the rope above your head. When you come up to the starting postion, be sure to get a stretch in your abdominals.

Helpfull Hint:

As with all abdominal exercises, it is very important that you use strict and proper form to achieve results. There are many variations of crunches, all targeting different areas of your abdominals. Using the cables for crunches is very effective on isolation your abs. Just remember to use your trunk area to bend or arc your body downwards, not your arm strength. Remember with all abdominal exercises that breating in as you relax and out as you contract is also very important! Train hard!
